Studio Visit with Nene H

In anticipation of a harder lockdown, Rokolectiv Festival takes one of the last opportunities to meet some of our favorite artists in person. Here’s a quick studio visit to club queen turned chestnut pudding fairy, NENE H. A half interview / half cooking show produced with support from SHAPE platform, Creative Europe and AFCN.

XLR8R & SHAPE

From November 11 until November 25, SHAPE platform will collaborate with XLR8R magazine on a string of exclusive live streams and mixes from a selection of 2020 SHAPE artists. The two weeks of collaborations will form somewhat of an "online festival", presenting either a live video stream or exclusive audio material from a different artist each night. The streams will be accessible via XLR8R‘s and SHAPE platform‘s Facebook pages (usually at 19:00 CET) and will be archived on XLR8R’s website. Read more here.

In Conversation:
Prof. dr. Henkjan Honing & Simina Oprescu

Is musicality specific to humans only? Can animals consciously perceive pitches and beats? Do birds get high when they sing? Watch an entertaining talk between SHAPE platform artist Simina Oprescu and music cognition scientist Prof. dr. Henkjan Honing. He recently published The Evolving Animal Orchestra at MIT Press. This conversation is part of our PROBABILITIES AROUND THE CENTER project.

Exhibitions 2020

Open Call 2021

The new open call for artist submissions for the 2021 SHAPE roster is now on. European or Europe-based musicians are asked to provide an up to 10 minute long streamable video or audio excerpt of their live performance, while audiovisual artists are asked to provide streamable video documentation (or photos) of their work (further online links are welcomed). The artists selected from the open call will have equal chances to be promoted throughout the 2021 projects as their peer artists directly proposed by the member festivals. More details about the application and selection processes here.

2020 Roster

SHAPE Platform’s 2020 roster is now fully revealed. The artist selection for the platform’s sixth year traditionally places a number of new media projects and sound artists alongside more forward thinking club acts. We are also happy to welcome a new member festival, Italy’s Terraforma, which has already contributed to this newly announced list of acts. Romanian artist Simina Oprescu joins the 2020 roster, alongside Rokolectiv’s endorsements for this year: object blue, Lawrence Lek and Lyzza. Full list of artists here.
